The Warwick Township Lion's Park contains approximately 7.4 acres and is located in the village of Rothsville.  This park offers active recreational opportunities including a softball field, an under-10 soccer field, 2 tennis courts, an outdoor street hockey rink, and 2 sand volleyball courts.  A macadam walking/biking trail winds through the park, which extends from Church Street to Twin Brook Road.

A restroom facility is located within the park.  The restroom facility was made possible through a special contribution by Carrie Wertz.  A plaque is located on the restroom facility recognizing her husband, Roy F. Wertz, who was one of the founding members of the Rothsville Lions Club.

A parking area is provided along Twin Brook Road, and a second parking area is provided along Church Street.

The park contains a pavilion that may be rented for special events.  If you are interested in renting the pavilion or fields, please contact Curt Strashem, WRRC Director, at 626-5096 x. 237 or e-mail curt@gowrrc.com.  You may use the following link to determine availability of the pavilion: http://www.gowrrc.com/facilities.html.  Please note, this link directs you to the Warwick Regional Recreation Commission (WRRC) website.

History:  Warwick Township acquired the park from the Rothsville Lion's Club in June of 1993.  The Lions Club deeded the park to the Township for use within the Township's park system.  In August of 1993, the Township acquired additional land from Richard Trees.  Over 4 acres was added to the park at that time. In July of 1995, the Warwick Township Recreation Advisory Committee adopted a master plan for the park. Over the next few years, the Township completed improvements to the park.

Facilities:  In the Spring of 2000, final improvements were made which included an additional entrance and parking area along Church Street, increased landscaping, a restroom facility, trail system, tennis court, basketball court, street hockey court, 2 sand volley ball courts, a softball field, and an under-10 soccer field.

Cooperation:  The Warwick Township staff, including the Municipal Authority, Public Works Department, and Building Inspector performed most of the work at the Lion’s Park. By using the talent and expertise of staff the capital improvements were completed in the most cost efficient and timely manner.

Efforts were also made to improve the park by Jeremy Fryburg and Boy Scout Troop 142.  Jeremy performed improvements to the park as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Maintenance: The maintenance of the facility is performed by Park Maintenance personnel under the Warwick Township Public Work's Department.

Recreation Advisory Committee: The Township implements its recreation facilities by the utilization of a Recreation Advisory Committee. The Committee over-sees the utilization of recreational facilities within the Township. This group also supervises construction projects such as the Linear Park project. The Committee  is provided logistics support thought the Township's Administration staff.
